Zinc Rich Polyester Primer for Agricultural Performance

Plastic Coatings Ltd have been challenged by several manufacturers of agricultural equipment / vehicles (and of commercial vehicle body producers) to provide a solution for hardwearing coatings that have excellent corrosion resistance.

Most basic powder coat systems give good corrosion resistance (up to 1000 hour Salt Spray Resistance *1) when combined with an iron or zinc phosphate, but the demanding environment in which agricultural equipment is used demands something even better.

Utilising our close working relationship with global coating manufacturers such as Akzo Nobel we have been able to identify several coating systems that will meet the requirements.

Zinc Rich Polyester Powder used as a base coat can enhance the corrosion resistance properties up to 2000 hours salt spray resistance (*2) and dependant on the other treatments selected, possibly even further. The best thing is because the primer is compatible with most powder top coats we can offer this enhanced coating performance with virtually any colour top coat, allowing the customer to utilise corporate or brand colours where applicable.

Utilising our three electrostatic powder application facilities we are able to coat virtually any parts with this two coat system, whether they are small or large, simple or complex.

Contact us now to see how Plastic Coatings Ltd can improve the longevity of your powder coated products.

*1 - Iron phosphate only offers 240 hour salt spray resistance.

*2 - And beyond 2000 hours, depending upon other treatments utilised and the testing criteria applied.
